“I want to show other young Latinos that education is the key to escaping poverty, and that through education, they can find a purpose to live and thrive in their community.”
Florentino comes from a family of six children, and wants nothing more than to support his mother, who raised him and his siblings by herself. “She went through a lot to raise us all. I want her to be able to retire without a worry in the world.”
After completing his Master’s, Florentino will be applying to programs to get his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and hopes to work as a physical therapist upon graduation. Removing the financial burden of paying for his Master’s and the fear of student loans allows him to focus on his classes so he can get the grades he needs to be accepted into his program of choice.
