Becky Newell

Advocacy

Becky Newell is a 27-year resident of Collier County and has been involved in a variety of professional and volunteer activities in the local community. She is an independent consultant who manages advocacy, public relations, and social media for local nonprofit organizations. 

Becky also:

  • Worked as State Coordinator for West Florida for the Children’s Movement of Florida from 2010 to 2012, organizing state level advocacy efforts for the organization in an 8- county area.
  • Has chaired two highly successful local referendum campaigns on behalf of Collier County Public Schools.
  •  Is a member of the County Steering Committee for Special Olympics Florida – Collier County and volunteers with the organization in a variety of capacities.
  • Is a past president of the League of Women Voters of Collier County and served on the organization’s board of directors for 7 years. 
  • Was honored as a Community Foundation of Collier County Woman of Initiative in 2014. 
  • Received the Woman of Achievement Award from the Collier County chapter of the American Association of University Women in 2012. 
  • Was selected as a Naples Daily News “25 Over 50” award recipient in 2016.
  • Is a board member for Easter Seals Lily Academy in Naples.
  • Served as Vice-Chair, Independent Community Referendum Oversight Committee (ICROC) for the Collier County School District, to oversee spending of funds from school flexible funding referendum, 2009-2013.
  • Has served as a member of the Collier County School District Strategic Planning Committee, the Superintendent’s District Advisory Council, and the School Advisory Councils at Big Cypress Elementary and Naples High School.
