"My biggest motivation is to be the first in my family to attend and graduate from college and continue on to medical school."

I’m a first generation college student pursuing a degree in Biology and Anthropology to prepare for medical school.

What’s your biggest motivation for completing school?
I want to be the first in my family to attend and graduate from college and continue on to medical school.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a student?
One of the biggest challenges I face as a first generation student is the financial strain placed on me since my parents can’t really contribute to my education. Additionally, I am navigating the college process on my own without a relative to guide me.

How has Earn to Learn FL™ helped you overcome those challenges?
Earn to Learn FL™ will make it possible for me to graduate with less financial setbacks, some of which I could never stop worrying about as I didn’t know where the funds would come from. Teaching me about financial literacy was also pretty great, as I had no idea what a credit score was nor how credit cards function.

What are your plans for the future? What do you want to do with your degree?
I will use my degree to further my education in medical school. As a doctor I really want to make an impact in the community I come from, Immokalee, a community of migrant farm workers.
